I love Mark

Hey it was great to meet all of you today.  Hopefully we will be able to welcome a few more into our midst.  Remember to invite anyone else who may be interested to come Thursday.
Also great work in your "looking for a mark" exercise.  The world is just full of interesting "Marks" for you to draw! start paying attention and put that sketchbook to work.  Brad Holland, one of the Great Illustrators of our day and an avid sketchbooker said "I don't look for ideas... I have them."  Turn your sketchbook into a library of ideas.

a little more on our first Assignment.

I am looking for a couple of solid pages of exploration (at least 5-7 drawings) as you get a feel for Fflewdder Fflamm.  Explore, try different poses, shapes, ideas. if you find yourself drawing the same thing over and over again, get up for 20 minutes and come back to it.  in addition to the 5-7 exploration sketches, have one that you have finalized. pay attention to Gesture and shape, we will talk more on this soon.

also... Keep Everything!  all your sketches, exploration, even reference stuff etc.  you will be posting all of your development and exploration on the blog. this is extremely useful to see how you are thinking and working out solutions and how you ultimately come to your end product.

Come Thursday with sketchbook, plenty of paper and whatever you want to use to draw.  We will be diving right in and please don't be late so that you don't miss anything.
